26 Oct November & Giving Tuesday
The month of November is a great opportunity to get into the fall spirit of giving and explore all of the causes present this month. Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, Lung Cancer Awareness Month, National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and National Native American Heritage Month all take place in November, but these occasions are only a few of the charitable opportunities this month offers. Givinga Foundation encourages giving year-round, but Giving Tuesday is a chance to take advantage of the giving spirit and donate to a cause that is important to you.
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday, on November 29th, was created in 2012 to be a day that inspires people to do something good. This idea of “GivingTuesday” has now developed into a global movement and an independent nonprofit that works to inspire generosity from others. Giving Tuesday is a day where giving is given the opportunity to take center stage and show people that even a small donation can impact the lives of others.
Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month
Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in November is an opportunity to support those who have been affected by pancreatic cancer. With so many individuals diagnosed with this type of cancer every year, this month is a time to recognize and find ways to help ease their struggles and support important research. The charities we have selected are just a small part of the many fighting for this cause.

Lung Cancer Awareness Month
Lung Cancer Awareness Month began back in 1995 with just one day dedicated to the cause. As the community grew, so did awareness, and now the whole month has become an opportunity to come together and support those who are affected. The charities down below are just a starting point for places that help further research and gather support.

National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month focuses on raising awareness and showing support for those living with Alzheimer’s. In 1982 President Ronald Reagan signed legislation dedicating the month of November to bringing visibility to this issue. Now more than 6.2 million Americans are experiencing this disease, and support for the cause can have a big impact. The vetted charities below are a starting point for places to donate to this cause. Ranging from research funding to helping to aid those who are living with Alzheimer’s, all of these organizations work to create a better future for those who are affected.
The Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center helps to improve the quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related memory disorders by providing hope and support.

Cure Alzheimer’s Fund was created to fund targeted research with the highest probability of slowing, stopping, and reversing Alzheimer’s through venture-based philanthropy.
National Native American Heritage Month
The whole month of November is National Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the history and culture of Native Americans. Starting in 1990, legislation was passed to dedicate the month to Native Americans and their contributions to America’s history. The charities shown below run hundreds of programs to provide legal assistance, financial empowerment, educational opportunities and more for Native American communities.
The Native American Rights fund provides legal assistance to Native American tribes, individuals, and organizations throughout the United States using existing laws.
